7 Common Billi Tap Troubleshooting Tips

Is your Billi Tap acting up? It’s frustrating, we know.

Many Billi Tap users experience issues like flashing lights or the hot water not working.

That’s why we’re taking you through some Billi Tap Troubleshooting! We have effective tips to help you try to restore your tap’s functionality. From understanding indicator lights to fixing water flow problems, we’ll help with your most common Billi Tap issues.

1. Billi Tap Green Lights Flashing

Billi Tap indicator lights are an important part of its functionality. These lights tell you about the status of the tap and any potential issues.

If you see two green lights flashing, the system is in Fault mode, often indicating a new filter is required. The Billi system can self-diagnose. Check the display on the front of your Billi. If there is no display, you likely have an Eco model and will need a technician with a computer to diagnose the issue.

To address this, you may need to change the filter. If another fault is detected, consult your manual or try turning the unit off and back on for a hard reset. If the fault persists, contact Boiling Point Services for assistance.

2. Billi Hot Water Not Working

First, check if the power supply is connected and working. Sometimes, a loose plug or power cut can stop the heating element from working.

  • Solid Red Light: The hot water tank is ready to use. If there is a red lock symbol, unlock the hot water using the safety lock on the back of the tap.
  • Flashing Red Light: The water in the hot tank is not hot enough and will dispense lukewarm water. Wait 5 minutes for it to heat up. If it doesn’t, book a service call for repair.

3. Addressing Water Flow Issues

Start by ensuring the water supply is on and there are no kinks in the hose. Recent plumbing work or a shut-off can block the filter. If your filter hasn’t been replaced recently, it might need changing. We recommend replacing filters every 6 to 12 months. Consult your manual for instructions or call us for a filter service, which includes a health check on your unit.

4. Dealing with Temperature Inconsistencies

If your Billi Tap’s water temperature is inconsistent, first check the temperature settings on the unit. They can sometimes be accidentally adjusted, leading to unexpected temperature changes. Make sure the settings are correct and see if this resolves the issue.

Another cause could be a problem with the heating element. If the water is not heating properly, it might be due to a malfunction in the element. In this case, it may need to be replaced. Call an authorised technician.

Check if the system is in timer mode or Eco mode, which powers the unit down to half temperature. Press a tap lever to power it back up in about 5 minutes or turn off power-saving mode through the unit’s front display settings.

5. Solving Power Supply Problems

If your Billi Tap isn’t working at all, the problem might be with the power supply. First, check if the power cord is securely plugged into the outlet.

Sometimes, the plug can come loose, causing the tap to stop working. If the plug is secure, make sure the outlet is working by testing it with another device. If the outlet is faulty, you may need an electrician to fix it. All of our service technicians have their restricted electrical licence and are licenced to reset your circuit breaker and fault find your electrical issue on the Billi unit.

A common issue is a tripped circuit breaker. Go to your home’s electrical panel and see if the breaker for the tap’s outlet has tripped. Turn the Billi unit off at the power point before resetting. If the circuit breaker trips back off when you turn on the Billi. The Billi has an electrical fault. Call and book in an authorised licenced technician.

Sometimes, the internal power components of the tap can fail. If you’ve checked the outlet and the circuit breaker and everything seems fine, it might be an internal problem and you will need to contact an authorised service provider to inspect the system.

6. How to Change Your Billi Water Filter

Changing the water filter in your Billi Tap is important for maintaining its performance. First, locate the filter under the sink or within the unit’s housing. Turn off the water supply to prevent any spills.

  1. Place a towel under the filter.
  2. Depress the cold water lever on the tap to confirm the water is isolated.
  3. Remove the old filter by pulling it forward and down. Dispose of it properly.
  4. Insert the new filter into the housing, pushing it up and back ensuring it is firmly in place.
  5. Remove the towel and turn the water supply back on and check for leaks around the filter area. Check for any leaks.

If the unit goes into “leak fault,” dry up any water and perform a hard reset by turning the unit off and on. The system will auto-flush and reset the filter counter. After the filter is flushed, the unit is good to start using.

7. When to Call a Professional After Billi Tap Troubleshooting
